Performances: June 16-25, 2023, at the Maple Grove Town Green amphitheater
Characters:
- Rev. Shaw Moore (F4-G2 Baritone, 40s-50s) Small town pastor. The secret to the character of Rev. Moore is that he is charismatic. Shaw has a quick mind, a loving heart and a sense of humor, all of which endear him to his congregation. He continues to mourn the death of his son - the one person he could not save.
- Vi Moore (D5-G3 Mezzo Soprano, 40s-50s) Reverend Moore’s loving, supportive, resilient wife. Despite the loss of her son and the strained relationship with her husband, Vi fully understands what kind of unflagging good humor she must display in order to keep her household - and her husband's congregation - running smoothly.
- Ariel Moore (G5-G3 Mezzo Soprano, late teens) Shaw and Vi’s daughter. Ariel is smart; she understands the rules of the different worlds she moves between (home vs school). Ariel loves to laugh but her high spirits are, quite often, her attempt to keep a lid on the grief she feels about her brother's death and the loss of her once loving relationship with her father. Role requires strong belt, must be a strong singer/dancer.
- Ren McCormack (C5-D3 Tenor, late teens) Big city transplant to the small town of Bomont. Ren is a cut-up, a joker who enjoys a good time. Lately, though, his fun-loving attitude has taken on a tone of desperation, as he tries too hard to convince the world - and himself - that his father's desertion hasn't wounded him as deeply as it has. Strong dancer.
- Ethel McCormack (D5-G3 Mezzo Soprano, 40s-50s) Ethel is Ren’s intelligent mom and has a strong sense of humor. It's hard for her to be living in her sister’s home and abiding by her brother-in-law’s rules, but she never succumbs to the pathos of her situation; after all, she has as to be strong for Ren. Since her husband left, it has brought her closer to her son.
- Willard Hewitt (A4-B2 Tenor, late teens) Willard is not dumb; he is a gentle soul with quick fists, which are his defense against a world that he often has trouble comprehending. The humor in the character of Willard derives from his gradual, innocent and giddy discovery of the new worlds that Ren opens to him. Comedic timing and dance a must.
- Rusty (F6-A3 Soprano, late teens) Rusty may come off as sassy and self-assured, but, in many ways, she is the most deeply romantic character in Footloose. She truly believes that she and Willard were meant to be together, but they're both unable to express themselves. Role requires strong belt, strong comedic timing and dance.
- Chuck Cranston (B4-F3 Tenor, late teens to young adult) The local bad boy and Ariel’s boyfriend.
- Urleen (F5-A3 Soprano, late teens) Ariel’s friend; the smart one of the group. Role requires strong belt, comedic timing, and dance.
- Wendy Jo (B4-F3 Mezzo Soprano, late teens) Ariel’s friend; strong belt, comedic timing, and dance required.
- Travis (A4-G3 Tenor, late teens) Chuck’s buddy.
- Lyle (A4-G3 Tenor, late teens) Chuck’s buddy.
- Jeter (A4-C3 Tenor, late teens) Ren’s friend
- Bickle (G4-C3 Tenor, late teens) Ren’s friend
- Garvin (G4-B2 Baritone, late teens) Ren’s friend
- Lulu Warnicker (spoken role, adult) Ren’s aunt.
- Wes Warnicker (spoken role, adult) Lulu’s husband.
- Roger Dunbar (spoken role, adult) Gym teacher and coach.
- Eleanor Dunbar (spoken role, adult) Roger’s wife.
- Betty Blast (spoken role, adult) Owner of the Burger Blast.
- Harry Clark (spoken role, adult) School principal.
- Cowboy Bob (spoken role, young adult)
- A Cop (spoken role, adult)
ENSEMBLE: Towns people and high school students
