Musical Theater Auditions: Heathers The Musical: Teen Edition

Heathers The Musical: Teen Edition is the darkly delicious story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy, beautiful teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: the Heathers. But before she can get comfortable atop the high school food chain, Veronica falls in love with the dangerously handsome new kid J.D. When Heather Chandler, the Almighty, kicks her out of the group, Veronica decides to bite the bullet and kiss Heather’s aerobicized butt... but J.D. has another plan for that bullet.

AUDITIONS ARE OPEN TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS GOING INTO 11TH AND 12TH GRADE FOR THE 2023/2024 SCHOOL YEAR AND RECENT HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES UP TO THE AGE OF 20 YEARS OLD. 

We encourage actors of all races, abilities, sexual orientations, gender identities, and backgrounds, to audition for this production. CPA and the Heathers Production team are currently looking to cast up to 25 performers. 

VIRTUAL AUDITION 

All auditions will be hosted virtually. Please prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre selection in the style of Heathers and a 1-minute contemporary monologue. CALLBACKS

Callbacks will be hosted on Monday, April 10th from 6:00-9:00 at the Hanifl Performing Arts Center in White Bear Lake, MN.  If you are not available for this date this will NOT affect casting and we will work to make other arrangements for your callback. Please make sure this date is written on your conflict form if you are not available.

COVID POLICY

Please find our current Covid Policy HERE. For Heathers, we are currently not requiring masks. Please note that in the event of a covid outbreak within the cast, we treat each cast as a community and reserve the right to require masks if deemed necessary,

BACKGROUND CHECK AND SEXUAL HARASSMENT TRAINING

If cast, all actors ages 18 and older MUST complete a background check through Sterling Volunteers. Children’s Performing Arts will provide background check information on the casting offer email. 

All actors cast in Heathers will be required to listen through Sexual Harassment policies and expectations which will be provided by Children’s Performing Arts on the first day of rehearsal.

INTIMACY NOTICE:

Children's Performing Arts has hired Mason Tyer, a qualified intimacy director ("ID") to work with the cast. The actors will work with the ID to play within the actors' boundaries. Role breakdown includes a brief outline of the expected intimacy; if interested, please reach out to enquire about the details of the expected action.

***No intimate acts will be required in auditions or callbacks
