Inver Grove Heights Community Theatre seeks director/production proposals for 2020 Summer Production

Inver Grove Heights Community Theatre is searching for a theatrical director for our summer 2020 production.  

We ask candidates to submit a production proposal with their application.  We are looking to produce a family-oriented musical with a medium sized cast, ideally including some parts for youth. (Our previous two productions have included “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Cabaret”).

As director, you will be responsible for auditions and callbacks, rehearsals and performances. 

Position will be supported by and work closely with Stage Manager, Musical Director, and Choreographer.

Compensation is $2000.


Jan/Feb 2020 - Director/Play selection and pre-production planning

May-June 2020 - Auditions, callbacks

June-July 2020 - Rehearsals & technical work begin - (weekday evenings)

Aug 7, 8 & 9 and 14, 15 and 16 - Fri/Sat Evening Performances, Sun Matinee


Requirements for the position:

  • Director must be passionate about and experienced working creatively with community members

  • Must pass a Background check 

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Director must have a clear vision for the show, while being able to work within strict time, budgetary, and technical restraints (I.e. Imaginative staging over  technical solutions)

  • This project requires a lot of sustained energy and flexibility, including some long days near the performance times.
