Chanhassen Dinner Theatres is seeking actors for their upcoming production of Jersey BoysAll roles are open – none have been pre-cast. Local actor/singer/dancers are encouraged to submit. We are looking to hire actors that will be at least 18 years old by the date of the first rehearsal

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

Frankie Valli (Leading Role): a strong tenor with sweet and strong falsetto and be able to sing in the style of Frankie Valli; strong tenor to high Bb plus strong falsetto up to treble G; charismatic and charming; must be a very strong actor (comfortable with narrative text) and have a gritty side as well as a polished veneer; must be very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies.

Suggested Audition Song: “Walk Like A Man”

Nick Massi (Leading Role): a strong baritone voice; must be very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies; must be comfortable with narrative text; ability to play bass a plus, but not necessary; a quiet dreamer who longs for life after The Four Seasons.

Suggested Audition Song: “Big Girls Don’t Cry”

Bob Gaudio (Leading Role): a strong baritenor voice; must be very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies; must be comfortable with narrative text; ability to play piano a plus, but not necessary; an intelligent, sensitive, and introspective musical prodigy.

Suggested Audition Song: “December ’63 (Oh What A Night)”

Tommy DeVito (Leading Role): a strong tenor/baritenor voice; must be very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies; must be comfortable with narrative text; ability to play guitar a very strong plus; a natural- born leader with an appealing, bad-boy quality.

Suggested Audition Song: “Earth Angel”

Joe Pesci (and Others): young, energetic; must be a good actor and a strong singer.

Bob Crewe (and Others): Male, 30-45;  intelligent and flamboyant; genius music producer and lyricist who was an integral part of creating the magic of The Four Seasons. Quick-witted and very into astrology. 

Gyp DeCarlo (and Others): Male, 45-60; tough, mafioso type; must be a good actor and strong singer; must be comfortable and convincing speaking phrases in Italian. 

Barry Belson (and Others): Male, 20-40; a strong actor and singers who plays various roles including Hal Miller. Tenor to high C with a strong falsetto to G above his C; ability to authentically sing in the R&B style. 

Mary Delgado (and Others): a strong singer, actor, and dancer; Frankie’s wife; tough, “seen it all,” Italian, Jersey girl; she’s got a killer sense of humor; actor also plays a variety of other roles, including member of a 60s style girl group; strong belt useful; high straight tone soprano also useful but not required.

Suggested Audition Song: “My Boyfriend’s Back”

Lorraine (and Others): 20’s-30s. Frankie’s girlfriend; Educated, NOT from Jersey, a real career girl – young Diane Sawyer; Actor also plays a variety of other roles, including member of a 60s style girl group and tough-as-nails Jersey Girl. Strong high belt useful, belt to high F EXTREMELY useful. High, straight tone soprano also useful but not required. Good Dancer.

Suggested Audition Song: “My Boyfriend’s Back”

Francine (and Others): 20s-mid 30s. – Frankie’s daughter; Named for, doted on and deeply loved by Frankie. She’s a Jersey girl – vulnerable, lost and acts out to make up for lack of attention from her Dad. Actor also plays a variety of other roles including member of a 60s style girl group and a tough-as-nails Jersey Girl. Strong, high belt useful. Belt to high F EXTREMELY useful, high straight tone soprano also useful but not required. Good Dancer.

Suggested Audition Song: “My Boyfriend’s Back” 

Ensemble: 20s-60s; All Genders; Fantastic, versatile actors, singers and dancers with flexible vocal registers to play a variety of roles including Lorraine, Norman Waxman, The Angels, Nick DeVito, Miss Frankie Nolan, Billy Dixon, Frankie’s Mother, Charlie Calello, Hank Majewski, Joe Long, and various other parts. All actors should be believable as Jersey-types, tough-as-nails, with strong abilities to sing in 4-part harmony.
