For Cosme: Please prepare the attached side (it does not have to be memorized), as well as singing a short song of your choice while accompanying yourself on the piano. A keyboard will be provided at the in-person auditions.

For Florence: Please bring 16-32 bars of one operatic selection of your choice to be performed a cappella. You may prepare 16-32 bars of one of the attached songs if you’d like. Please also prepare the attached monologue (it does not have to be memorized). Please note: There is no need to come “in character”. If you are a singer, we’d like to hear how you naturally sing.

Cosme McMoon (Male-Presenting, 50s-60s)- The former accompanist to Florence Foster Jenkins. He has been the resident pianist in an elegant supper club in Greenwich Village for some years. His audience comes to be entertained as much by his abrasive sides as his music. Must play piano and sing.

Florence Foster Jenkins (Female-Presenting, 50s)- A wealthy society woman who, though she believes herself to be a great soprano, has no voice and is incapable of singing two notes in tune. Her belief in her talent, however, and her dedication to music and the art of singing is absolute. She behaves at all times as if she is a major vocal artist. There must be no hint of mockery. Singers preferred.

Actors will be paid $500 for the production.

At Lakeshore Players Theatre, we recognize the systemic change that needs to be made in the theater industry to promote diversity and equity and to celebrate inclusion.

We strongly encourage actors of all races, abilities, sexual orientations, gender identities, and backgrounds to audition for this production.  We are actively investing in creating an environment that is safe, accessible and welcoming for all.
