Purple Door Youth Theater, an educational branch of the Northfield Arts Guild Theater, is looking for talented Middle and High School singer/actors to be part of our all-student production of Les Misérables School Edition.
Auditions for this all-student production of the Tony Award winning musical take place at the Northfield Arts Guild Center for the Arts, 304 Division Street S., Northfield: 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26, and 4-6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27. Rehearsals begin in January 2017 and occur weekdays 4:00-6:30pm. Les Misérables performances are March 9-11 and March 15-18 at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater, 411 W. Third Street, Northfield, MN (easy to reach via I35 or Hwy 3).
Les Misérables is the story of Jean Valjean, a prisoner who breaks parole to create a new life for himself. Set in post-revolutionary France, the story is an emotional masterpiece that has thrilled audiences all over the world. Les Misérables school edition has been abridged, but is still rated PG-13 and continues to maintain the integrity of one the greatest musicals ever written. The Northfield Arts Guild has been presenting quality theater since 1959. Purple Door Youth Theater students are led by our staff of theater artists to produce a quality theatrical production.Students receive training and hands-on experiences in acting, technical and administrative theater. In addition to mounting the show, PDYT emphasizes building character off-stage with skills like collaboration, critical thinking, and citizenship. Each Purple Door Youth Theater session provides both a full-scale production and theater training; there is a nominal tuition cost.
Students in grades 5 through 12 from across the region are encouraged to try out for the many roles both on and off stage.
