Mad Science is currently looking for outgoing entertainers to perform solo educational shows and birthday parties for kids in the Twin Cities 7 County Metro area; and Monticello, Chatsworth, Belle Plaine, Mankato, Duluth, St. Cloud, and Northfield. If you love performing, are comfortable with a certain amount of improv, and enjoy teaching kids, then consider auditioning for Mad Science!
Performers will develop their own "Mad Scientist" character and learn improvisational scripts. Performers must have your own reliable transportation. (Public buses won't allow the props kits on board.) You don't need a teaching license to work with Mad Science. Training and mileage is paid. You specify the times and region that you work. Pay is $50 for a 45-minute show, which actually takes takes one hour and fifteen minutes of your time due to set up and tear down.
Shows are solo shows with sound support. The performer (Mad Scientist) sets up experiments on a table and conducts the experiments in front of an audience with witty banter and explanation of the science behind the experiment. Birthday parties are in people's homes and include 10-15 elementary school guests. Parties pay $40 for one hour party, but take 90 minutes of your time due to set up and tear down. Parties often include tips. There are 4 shows to learn and 2 birthday parties to learn. Training is paid at a lower hourly rate. Performers are sent out to shows based on their availability and region. Shows and parties take place in the morning, in the afternoon, and in the evening, 7-days per week, so we can work around your availability as a performer.
Hiring is ongoing.
