Sandbox Theatre's The Swingset invites performers of all genders and ethnicities with backgrounds in aerial silks, dance, acrobatics, or other applicable skills to an audition for an all-new ensemble-created play to begin creation summer 2019.
Centering on the Russian folk witch Baba Yaga and in the format of newly-created folktales, we will be exploring feminine energy in all its untamable wildness, its kinship to nature, and its expression through all genders. This piece will be built collaboratively and will utilize aerial silks performance, partner acrobatics, and live music and singing. The performance and creation is in collaboration with The Museum of Russian Art in South Minneapolis.
Audition: Sunday, February 17, 2019
EDIT: All audition slots are currently full and we have started a waitlist for any other interested performers. Thank you!
Performance Dates: September 19-22 at The Museum of Russian Art, September 30-October 13 at The Crane Theater
Rehearsals begin late July.
To request an audition slot, please email Evie Digiloramo at [email protected], briefly describing your background in aerial silks, dance, acrobatics, or other related skills, as well as your background and/or interest in ensemble theatre.
