FAQ: Do I need to audition for you/send you my design materials/send my resume again if I’ve done so in the past? That’s probably not necessary, but a quick email reminding us of who you are and that you’re interested in working with us would be good. Of course, if you’ve got something you think we should see, go ahead and snag a slot/send a link.
Auditioners will be considered for the following shows in our 2017-2018 season:
Written by Blake E. Bolan & Laura Leffler
Directed by Hannah K. Holman
THE RAVAGERS, loosely based on the THE SUPPLIANTS by Aeschylus, follows the 50 daughters of Danaus, tyrant of Argos. THE RAVAGERS explores what happens when one daughter discovers herself at the precipice between obedience and resistance. Lavender called the 2011 production, “ingenious and hauntingly evocative.” With this production, we will investigate the relationship between current political events, and the original tale of power, influence, and resistance. Performed at a TBD site-specific location.
12M/10F. Flexible gender casting. Seeking especially two M characters aged 50+. Three roles have been pre-cast.
Rehearsals begin the week of December 11, 2017 (light rehearsals until January 2, 2018).
Tech week begins February 4, 2018.
Performances are February 9 - March 3, 2018.
WOLF SONG workshop presentation
Conceived by Megan Clark
WOLF SONG is a workshop of a new project. Inspired by the Icelandic Volsunga Saga, it will explore themes of supernatural power, divided loyalty, and revenge.
We seek an ensemble of performers, about 6 - 8, all genders, bodies, ages. This will be a generative workshop. Actors will work with the creators on prompts and ideas, and the actors will then improv/plan/create material that will then become the script/staging/etc.
Rehearsals begin the week of March 26, 2018. There will be around 10-12 rehearsals total.
Presentation dates are April 30, 2018. Minimal to no memorization required for the presentations.
NIGHT OF NEW WORKS
led by Hannah K. Holman, Alana Horton, and Laura Leffler
Through the Night of New Works series, Savage Umbrella will offer support to emerging theater makers interested in creating new work for the stage through collaborative processes. Instructions to apply will be posted in January 2018.
We will be casting, as needed, for these TBD projects. More information as it becomes available. Callbacks will be held on future dates, closer to the time of the shows.
Rehearsals begin May 2018.
Presentations will be in June 2018.
We keep information and notes on file from all of our season auditions. On multiple occasions we have cast an actor/hired a designer who auditioned/sent a resume in a previous season for a later season’s work. We consider the audition process/call for resumes an introduction, and we’d like to meet you.
