Geki Arts is seeking IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENTS for the roles of WOLF, FREDDIE, and ENSEMBLE in "Bent" by Martin Sherman which begin rehearsals on Monday, June 12th. Actors must be between the ages of 15 and 21.
Nominated for both the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 1980 Tony Award for Best Play, 'Bent', which made its Minneapolis premiere in 1983, is a powerfully tragic and deeply revealing examination of the treatment of gay men in 1930's Germany.
‘I love you. What’s wrong with that?’
Max and Rudy are sent to Dachau concentration camp. Their crime: being gay. Set in Nazi Germany during and after the Night of the Long Knives, ‘Bent’ follows the life of Max, a young gay man, and his experience at Dachau. He meets Horst, another gay man, in the camp, and their friendship develops during their conversations moving rocks - a punishment intended to drive them mad. Based on the real experiences of homosexuals during World War II, ‘Bent’ explores an important story that questions the meaning loyalty, friendship, sex, and love in a place that seems to lack all four.
Named among the "10 most influential postwar British plays" by Guardian UK!
"Powerful and provocative." - The New York Times
