SPRING | Young Players | AGES 7 - 12

THE FAULT IN OUR STARS: EXPLORING JULIUS CAESAR

Saturday,  May 21st | 1 pm - 4 pm | $35 | Ages 8 - 11

Experience Shakespeare’s great historical thriller, Julius Caesar. Perform lines from the play on the set of SYT’s production of Julius Caesar, stage the assassination of the Roman tyrant, and stick around afterwards to see the full production of The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, presented by Shakespearean Youth Theatre. Taught by Lukas Brasherfons and Julius Caesar director Logan Verdoorn. 

This class includes tickets for enrolled students and one adult per registrant to attend SYT's production of Julius Caesar on May 21st at 7:00pm.

Unleash the actor within!

Open the door to the rich and enchanting world of William Shakespeare! Learn how to “suit the action to the word, the word to the action”; learn the basics of stagecraft, movement, verse speaking, stage combat, and other elements of Shakespeare's theatrical world, all while finding the joy in some of the most delightful words ever written in the English language.

Each day, actors will work together to discover the hidden meanings behind some of Shakespeare’s most famous lines and step into the shoes of his beloved characters  -- cunning villains, witty fools, melancholy kings, and brave heroines!

 

CAMP SHAKESPEARE: Ages 9 - 12

July 11 - 15 | Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30 pm | Ages 9 - 12 | $400

A skills-building, all-day immersion into the world of William Shakespeare.

Make your stage presence known and enter the world of theatre in this exciting and challenging theater summer camp. Take a week and dive into the wonders of acting Shakespeare in an immersive full day theatre camp. Start every morning learning stage combat and theatre movement in a fun and invigorating intro to the art of death and dying onstage. Then, in the afternoon, choose-your-own adventure: either dive into the world of technical theatre and learn the ins-and-outs of lighting, sound, and costumes; or hone your acting chops, learn how to decode Shakespeare's text, and unlock the secrets of acting the Bard. Make this the summer you conquer Shakespeare and take your stagecraft to the next level.

 

MAKE A PLAY!: MACBETH

July 25 - July 29 | Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 12:30pm | Ages 7 - 12 | $296

Rehearse and perform Shakespeare’s MACBETH in just one week with this acting summer camp for artists ages 7-12.

Take on Shakespeare's famous murder-mystery-meets-ghost-story and create a play to perform for friends and family on Friday evening at the Crane Theatre. 

This one week theatre crash-course is a fun and energetic introduction to Shakespeare through one of his most famous and popular plays.
 

SPRING WORKSHOPS 2022 FOR ARTISTS AGES 13 - 19

DEATH BY SHAKESPEARE

March 31st - April 17th | Thursdays and Sundays |  Ages 13- 19

Learn how to safely and convincingly take a rapier to the gut, die by poison and confront ultimate betrayal in this hybrid workshop of hair-raising stage combat and heartbreaking Shakespearean death scenes. 

Taught by veteran Twin Cities fight director Annie Enneking.  

No prior theatre or acting experience is necessary! 

This five-day crash course is an excellent introduction to Shakespeare, with a fun and physical twist! Plus, there will be swords. Did we mention there will be swords?

Hone both your acting skills and your Shakespeare knowledge as this class takes you on a broad journey through Shakespeare's works, from the greatest hits to the most underrated deep cuts.
