Hennepin Theatre Trust’s Spotlight Education program is seeking professional artists and educators to join our Spotlight evaluator team! If you have a strong theater background and have worked extensively in theater performance, technical theater, and or/educational theater, we want you!
Spotlight evaluators primary role is to attend high school musicals and full-length plays and provide detailed, educational feedback with the intention to promote educational growth of individuals and high school programs. Evaluators also give merit-based honors to individual students and overall performance and technical elements in a production. Spotlight evaluators are required to attend a pre-season training annually and are scheduled based on availability.
Evaluation types: (Evaluators may choose and be trained for each type of evaluations they wish to perform)
- Pre-Evaluation: Pre-evaluator engages during the rehearsal process of a production to work with students in a specific area (pre-determined by the school) OR pre-evaluator watches a technical or dress rehearsal for a production and gives verbal feedback following the run.
- Technical Evaluation: A technical evaluator visits a school during a final tech or dress rehearsal and observes the technical students at work onstage and offstage. This evaluator interacts with students during the evaluation and gives written feedback and honors following the visit.
- Performance Evaluation: A performance evaluator visits a school during a performance as an audience member, watches the production and gives written feedback and honors following the visit.
All evaluators are contractor positions. Spotlight Education will offer a stipend of $100 for performance evaluations and pre-evaluations, and $125 for technical evaluations. Mileage reimbursements and hotel stays are included for certain evaluations in greater Minnesota.
