Teaching Artist/Featured Performer: Fame the Musical

Children’s Performing Arts and Lakeshore Players Theatre are seeking a seasoned teaching artist for Fame, our first joint production at the Hanifl Performing Arts Center. 

Teaching artists in this production will perform a role in the show as well as collaborate with the creative team to provide support and instruction to the young cast members, aged 14 to 18. This will include:

  • polishing dance numbers,

  • providing actor coaching

  • participating in a Q&A with the cast about performing theatre as an adult or making a career in theater

Roles Available to be Performed:

  • Miss Esther Sherman - A strict, old-fashioned and academic English teacher who loves her students, despite the fact that she comes down hard on them. Vocal range top: E5. Vocal range bottom: F3. 

  • Ms. Greta Bell - A dance teacher who likes different styles of dance and is "protective" of the students. Vocal range top: E5, Vocal range bottom: A3

  • Mr. Myers - The drama teacher. Is a "father-figure" to Joe and is encouraging the students.

  • Mr. Sheinkopf - German Music tutor who loves classical music but does not like "rock and roll."

Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Experience working as a teaching artist with students ages 14-18

  • Ability to effectively coach and polish both beginning and intermediate performers 

  • Strong sense of collaboration and excellent communication skills 

  • Commitment to fostering both artistic expression and leadership skills in students

Responsibilities: 

  • Rehearsal Dates & Times: June 29th-August 8th, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8:30 on the outdoor stage at the Hanifl Performing Arts Center in White Bear Lake. Teaching Artists will be called 4-5 hours a week, until tech week August 8-11, when they will be called every night from 5:00-9:00PM.

    • Sat. August 14th- 6:30PM

    • Sun. August 15th- 6:30PM

    • Tues. August 17th (possible rain-out date): 6:30PM

    • Thurs. August 19th- 6:30PM

    • Fri. August 20th- 6:30PM

    • Sat. August 21st- 6:30PM

    • Sun. August 22nd- 6:30PM 

  • Performance Location(s): Northern Lights Outdoor Stage at the Hanifl Performing Arts Center

  • Compensation: $500 Stipend

Organization Overview: The Hanifl Performing Arts Center is the artistic home of both Children’s Performing Arts and Lakeshore Players Theatre since 2018. As separate institutions, CPA has been dedicated to fostering artistic expression and leadership in students since our creation in 2005, and LPT has been entertaining and educating in the area since 1952. Together both theatres value education, artistry, and community engagement.
