Teatro del Pueblo Hiring Teaching Artist and Apprentices

Hiring Teaching Artist and Apprentices of color for paid Theater Residency for seniors

Teatro del Pueblo is in search of 1 teaching artist and 2-3 apprentices or color who would be interested in a paid part-time position working with Latino seniors at two Twin Cities sites this summer (June, July and August).

Teatro’s program “Senderos Nuevos” (New Paths) will be working in partnership with the Ebenezer Tower Apts. and Legacy Day Care Center.  Lead teaching artist and apprentices will be working with Latino seniors in their care programs. Our “Senderos Nuevos” Theatre Residency engages participants through the use of personal memories as the groundwork of dramatic expression. This position will require day and evening availability two or three days a week.

As an apprentice, you will get hands-on experiences engaging with participants under the mentorship of a lead teaching artist. You will learn how to adapt theatre learning experiences to serve the interest and needs of older adults, ranging from independent people to those experiencing dementia, visual and hearing impairment, and other challenging conditions.

Teatro del Pueblo encourages caring, creative, and enthusiastic individuals to apply.  As a teaching artist or an apprentice you will receive training geared towards working with senior communities. The project is designed to increase the number of Individual artists of color to work with culturally specific communities. You will also be required to attend specific workshops from local and nationally recognized leaders in the field.
