Chanhassen Dinner Theatres is seeking video submissions for their upcoming production of The Prom. All roles are open – none have been pre-cast. Local actor/singer/dancers are encouraged to submit. For this show, we are looking to hire actors that will be at least 18 years old by the date of the first rehearsal (1/17/2023).

ALYSSA GREENE

Female, Playable Age: 18+ to play High School Senior, All Ethnicities, Vocal: Mix/belt up to a D. 

Tries desperately to fit in. A cheerleader. Secretly Emma’s girlfriend, but afraid to come out. Afraid to stand up to her mother. Pop voice. Strong singer/actor. If you are interested in being considered for the role of Alyssa, please sing the provided cutting from “Alyssa Greene.”

ANGIE DICKINSON

Female, Playable Age: 30-49, All Ethnicities, Vocal: alto with a belt

Angie is an ensemble member in the Broadway production of “Chicago”. Jaded Fosse girl with a heart of gold. Strong singer/mover. If you are interested in being considered for the role of Angie, please sing the provided cutting from “Zazz.”

BARRY GLICKMAN

Male, Playable Age: 30-59, All Ethnicities, Vocal: high baritone/low tenor

Barry is a very gay Broadway star. Completely politically incorrect and doesn’t know it. Impulsive and loves to make a scene everywhere he goes. Strong singer. Big broadway belter. DEE DEE ALLEN

Dee Dee is a current Broadway diva. A huge ego to match her huge talent. Has no filter. Hilariously self-involved, but yearns to do something good for someone other than herself. Strong Singer. EMMA NOLAN

Female, Playable Age: 18+ to play High School Senior, All Ethnicities, Vocal: Alto with a great high pop mix

Emma is a high school student. Mix/belt up to a D. Forced into the spotlight because she asked her girlfriend to the prom. A reluctant poster child for gay/lesbian youth. Very smart. Sweet pop voice. MRS. GREENE

Female, Playable Age: 30-49, All Ethnicities, Vocal: Strong Alto

Alyssa’s mother, and the school board president. Very strong, controlling and intimidating. Loves her daughter very much, but has the specific view of what is “right” and “wrong” for her daughter and the school. Strong singer/actor. SHELDON SAPERSTEIN

A charismatic press agent. Traditional musical theatre sound.

The small-town principal at Emma’s high school. Easily Flustered. Straight-laced. A Broadway enthusiast. Strong singer/actor. If you are interested in being considered for the role of Tom, please sing the provided cutting of “We Look To You.”

TRENT OLIVER

Male, Playable Age: 30-49, All Ethnicities, Vocal: tenor

Trent is a pretentious Broadway star who is probably better known for TV infomercials. Loves the sound of his own voice. Strong singer, pop and legit. If you are interested in being considered for the role of Trent, please sing the provided cutting from “Love Thy Neighbor.”

ENSEMBLE

Characters are male and female, age 18+ to play high school students and various characters in the ensemble. All ethnicities. If you are interested in being considered for the ensemble, you can sing a song of your choice in the style of the show, or any of the the provided cuttings of “Tonight Belongs To You,”  “You Happened” or “It’s Time To Dance.” Understudies for principal characters will perform in the ensemble.

Auditions are only available for adults 18+. There will be no youth auditions for The Prom.
