Theater Mu & SteppingStone Theatre auditions for Dandelion Girl, a world premiere

Theater Mu and SteppingStone Theatre auditions for Dandelion Girl!

Theater Mu and SteppingStone Theatre are very proud to announce auditions for Dandelion Girl, a world premiere! For this production, we’re looking for five young actors between the ages of 10-15 and two adult actors (one male identified and one female identified) age 20+ for the following roles:

PAYTON: a Hmong girl

DAD:  (Pao) Payton’s dad, a Hmong refugee, speaks English without an accent

CHARITY: any ethnicity, a girl, smart, confident, popular

HALEY: any ethnicity, a girl, doesn’t talk much

MADONNA: any ethnicity, a girl, self-conscious about her name

JULIA:  any ethnicity, adult, Payton’s neighbor with a secret life

JONATHAN: Asian boy, Payton’s friend (also plays younger version of the dad).

Payton’s dad arrived in the U.S. as a Hmong refugee in the eighties and fought off bullies by imagining he was a Kung Fu master, like his heroes on TV. When someone calls 8-year-old Payton a dandelion: a weed, ordinary, and yellow, she has to find her own role models to face her bully without fists.

Adult actors could be AEA or non-AEA; the adult roles are paid. The youth roles are not paid.

Commissioned by SteppingStone Theatre and Theater Mu.
