Herman Melville’s Moby Dick has been called the “greatest American novel”. Its story illustrates how true greatness is achieved - through diversity, inclusion, and hard work. CDT’s adaptation re-imagines the classic tale by showing a world that is gender, culturally, and racially inclusive. CDT’s Moby Dick is the story of a diverse crew of sailors working during the height of the whaling industry, as told through the eyes of a callow narrator, Ishmael. The hunt this time, however, is for the leviathan that took the leg and splintered the mind of Captain Ahab, a captain haunted by demons of his own making. Under the wisdom and guidance of the great harpooner Queequeg, Ishmael gives us a lens into a world of cultural unity, moral and ethical conflict, and what it means to depend on the person next to you in a dangerous world where each day could be your last.
