Sara Truesdale is an actor, director and teaching artist.
A proud member of TCCAN (Twin Cities Cabaret Artists Network), she enjoys cabaret and the art of personal storytelling through song. She also performs regularly with The Dinner Detectives, an interactive murder mystery comedy troupe and loves the laughter and fun of an exciting evening.
Sara recently studied acting, directing, and playwriting at the Margolis Method Center International in Summer 2020. She is a member of The Actor’s Workout at the Guthrie Theater with Nathan Keepers. She’s also studied with John Woerhle (Self Reliant Actor, held at MacPhail Center for Music), and Eric Hoover (Margolis Method, held at the Art Box).
Artistic Director of Breaking Barriers with Toolbox Theatre (BBTT), she explores stories of adversity and resilience. The one-hour production of Beyond Limits tells the life story of Nikki Abramson. BBTT has performed the production for conferences and festivals. Working with a core group of artists, BBTT continues to look for more opportunities to share this work around unique life stories with audiences.
Sara’s long been dedicated to the arts. Overall experience is comprised of volunteer and paid experience with over 20 theatre companies. She’s also interested in equitable education, social justice, and healthy communities. She was honored to ASM Mother Courage and Her Children in Spring 2019 with Pangea World Theater. In addition to artistic endeavors, she works for Minneapolis Public Schools.
She likes being an artist because working collaboratively is an exhilarating way of embracing creativity.
