Drama

Following our acclaimed staging of THE SEAGULL by Anton Chekhov, Theatre Novi Most will present another classic of the European theatrical canon with this complex drama by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, adapted and directed by TNM co-founder Vladimir Rovinsky. The story follows master architect Halvard Solness (Pearce Bunting) and his wife Aline (Barbra Berlovitz) through an existential mid life crisis involving past losses that still haunt and profound fear about the future. The challenges of a bright young woman (Shelby Richardson) seem to bring some answers. But as always, Ibsen keeps us in suspense. This story is highly charged with secret desires, stunning poetic language, Freudian and Nietzschean motives and… there is that troll.

Founded in 1998 by Russian director Vladimir Rovinsky and American director Lisa Channer, Theatre Novi Most is based in Minneapolis and consists of associate artists from New York, Los Angeles, Russia and Minneapolis. Since 1998 we have worked to adapt or create new works for the stage through a rigorous and expansive process of exploration and improvisation. Our methodology combines Russian theatre techniques and traditions and physical theatre methods from the U.S. and Europe as well as integration of story and narratives through playwriting. Our plays tend to use multiple languages and theatrical traditions allowing language to exist side by side with physical expression in the communicating of stories and ideas.
