Based (very loosely) on true events, We Had A Second Bathroom is about a young woman who returns to her childhood home where she rediscovers a room that her family had forgotten about for years. Opening the door leads her down a rabbit hole of self-discovery as strange things start to emerge from the forgotten room, including memories and fantastical characters from the Queendom of Zor, an imaginary realm that she and her best friend created as children.

Playwright, designer, and metalsmith Eva Adderley and media artist, director, and educator Jordan Lee Thompson—longtime friends and brand new artistic collaborators—presented We Had A Second Bathroom as a work in progress as part of Savage Umbrella’s Night of New Works in May of 2017. We developed the script with the help of an amazing ensemble of actors (Joni Griffith, Helena Mueller, Nayely Becerra, Kit Bix, and Meagan Kedrowski). We are thrilled to say to two members of our original ensemble, Helena and Nayely, will be joining us for the full production. We are equally excited about the new faces we have in our cast: Lillian Noonan, Natalie Turner, Renee Werbowski, Rob Ward, Andrew Lindvall, and Juliette Aaslestad. Also on board are Ben Harvey as sound and lighting designer, Steve Looten Jr. as fight choreographer, and Sarah Maxwell as Stage Manager.

In the last year as We Had A Second Bathroom has been developed, we have been forced to ponder notions of collective forgetting and the falsehoods we share, in both the larger culture and the intimately personal. This play is imaginative, surprising, and intimate, and the incorporation of improv means it will change every night. The audiences of each performance will share a unique experience, and we hope that you will join us for one of them.
