Big fat thanks

Editorial
I hope you playlist readers will forgive a little self indulgence as my guest editorship comes to a close. Please know I'm only momentarily dropping my comfortable sarcasm for a brief bit of sincerity. I want to say a big thank you to Minnesota performing arts community. In the last two months of guest editing for Minnesota Playlist I've had the pleasure of getting to better know the artists and arts organizations who make up this wonderful theatrical community. I've been a part of this collection of theater makers and doers for something in the area of a dozen years but it's only been in the last two months that I've come to realize how many different and compelling things are going on in this not so big theater community. Thanks to Matthew Foster, Leah Cooper, and Alan Berks for caring enough about the performing arts in Minnesota to want to start this cool magazine. And thanks again to Leah and Alan for the time and energy put into keeping the magazine going for really no more reward than having a place to start and continue conversations about theater and dance in the Twin Cities. I want to say an additional thank you to Alan Berks for giving me the opportunity to showcase the writing and voices of some of the funniest and most talented people I've ever known despite my clear lack of qualifications for the job. I know this is already to the point of being obnoxiously sappy and I contemplated throwing in a joke here about the pope, a theater producer, and a breakdancer walking into a bar with the punch line being something about "you just got served" but instead I'll try to quickly wrap this up. Finally, to all the actors, dancers, directors, producers, and writers who wrote fantastic blog entries and articles and trusted me to edit their work I'm forever appreciative. Sorry if I sounded sweaty or stressed on the phone or over email. I was just trying to keep you from realizing I didn't know what I was doing. -Levi Weinhagen
