The Drowsy Chaperone
MVCT is producing this extremely fun musical which is a parody of American musical comedy of the 1920s. The story concerns a musical theater fan as he plays the record of his favorite musical, the (fictional) 1928 hit, The Drowsy Chaperone. The show comes to life on stage, in his apartment, as he occassionally makes comments on the music, the story, and the actors. Opening on Broadway in 2006 and running for over 700 performances, it won five Tony Awards in 2006.
