Exposed Brick Theatre Auditions for Muyehpen by Ehkhudah Zar

Exposed Brick Theatre is seeking AAPI (Asian American & Pacific Islander) actors for Ehkhudah Zar’s Muyehpen, directed by Eliza Rasheed.

Exposed Brick premiered Muyehpen in 2023. This is a 90 minute touring version of the play that will rehearse in April and perform May 4 & 5 in Worthington, Minnesota.

Based on a folktale that has been passed down for generations by the Knyaw (Karen) people of Burma, Muyehpen captures the story of a woman with supernatural powers who sacrificed for her people. Known to be the most beautiful Knyaw woman in her time, Muyehpen was sold out by her people, kidnapped by a Thai king and forced to marry someone she didn’t love. This is her narrative of resilience and resistance, which lives on today.
