Sioux City Symphony Orchestra announces auditions for a semi-staged production of "Carmen" scheduled for May 2025.  The production will be conducted by Ryan Haskins; stage director will be Bob Neu.

Auditions will be held in Minneapolis on Sunday, October 27 from 2:00-5:00; and Monday, Oct. 28 from 5:00-9:00.  

Roles to be cast:  

Frasquita (soprano), Mercedes (mezzo), Remendado (tenor), Dancaire (baritone), Morales (baritone)

A full-time rehearsal schedule begins April 24, 205 with a single performance on May 4.  The engagement will offer a fee (to be negotiated and in line with regional opera fees), housing in Sioux City and mileage reimbursement.  Sioux City, Iowa is a 4.5 hour drive from Minneapolis - please note that full-time residence in Sioux City for the rehearsal period is necessary.

Audition requirements: Please prepare two arias with one sung in French.  An accompanist will be provided.  Also please bring a resume and headshot.

Roles are open to all races, ethnicities and ages (18 and older).  We are seeking experienced singers with professional credits.  All audition candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.  The SCSO does not and shall not discriminate based on race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status in any of its activities or operations.
