Minnesota Opera is seeking to cast one youth actor of Latinx heritage to perform a role in a new production of Cruzar la Cara de la Luna to be performed at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts.

Cruzar la Cara de la Luna tells the story of a multigenerational Mexican American family separated by countries, cultures, and consequences in search of new possibilities.  As their grandfather journeys back in time to reflect on his life in his final days, the members of the Velásquez family must make their own migration across land and through memory, search their hearts to discover where they belong.  Richly arranged with mariachi tradition and a newly arranged orchestration, this modern story reminds us that family knows no borders.

Role Description

  • YOUNG RAFAEL, Mexican, approximately age 8 to 12.  This role has one spoken word and is otherwise a silent acting role.  May be performed by an actor of any gender.
