Arts Nest at Phoenix Theater is holding auditions for a unique project based on the book Stolen Focus by Johann Hari. It is being directed by Vanessa Brooke Agnes and adapted by Brenda Varda.

This is a show about distraction, social media, a lack of focus and ideas as to how to recover what has been taken from us.

We are looking for actors who are comfortable with direct audience interaction and improvisation. We are building characters based on actor abilities, so we are especially interested in performers with unique skills; such as close up magic, circus/acrobatics, juggling, puppetry, tech know-how, and anything else you’d like to show us.

Movement / dance experience is encouraged but not required.

Auditions will be in groups, with three 1 hour blocks available per night. September 8th and 9th from 6pm to 9pm.

Auditions, rehearsals, and performances of Stolen Focus will be at Phoenix Theater, 2605 Hennepin Avenue in Uptown.

There will be a few days of script workshopping in the fall, and regular rehearsals will begin in early January.

Performances are February 15-March 2, 2025, 12 in total.

Stipend is $500.

This project is made possible by a grant from Metropolitan Regional Arts Council.
