ABOUT THE PLAY

A breathtaking tale of jealousy, love, revenge, fate and astonishing grace. The Winter’s Tale is a story that crosses seas and decades, both a classic folktale and an astonishingly modern love story that imagines the possibility of grace and redemption at the furthest extremes of human folly.

ABOUT THE CORE ENSEMBLE PROGRAM

The SYT Core Ensemble is a preprofessional ensemble program for eighteen young actors. It is an intensive six-month program, focused on building classical acting skills, conceiving and devising new and innovative interpretations of Shakespeare’s works, and performing in professionally directed and designed productions of Shakespeare’s plays.

The Shakespearean Youth Theatre Core Ensemble is taught by a rotating team of exceptional theatre artists. Each director brings a new set of skills and expertise to the program, but every Core Ensemble experience will include training and skill building in these key areas:

  • Vocal training and Shakespearean text work

  • Movement and physical composition

  • Character development and scene study

  • Ensemble building

The Core Ensemble meets weekly September - December, and begins a traditional rehearsal process in January.
