The Birth Play Project presents the world premiere of Joel F. Wilshire's AQUELARRES: after the works of Francisco de Goya y Lucientes in the outdoor sanctuary of Edgcumbe Presbyterian Church.

AQUELARRES (in Spanish: "witch's sabbath") is a political fantasy set during the Spanish Inquisition, and it follows a possible saint, a pair of nuns, and a coven of witches who unwittingly collaborate to overthrow their local government. The play is performed in both English and Spanish, features puppetry, and is a birth story of cosmic proportions - join the Aquelarre.

Seating is general admission and available either in provided chairs or "groundling" style (on the grass, bring your own picnic blanket).

AQUELARRES is written by Joel F. Wilshire, directed by Madeline Wall, and produced by Wilshire, Wall, Emma Lai, and Patrick Brien. The production is stage managed by Rebecca Wickert and features design work by Rachel Brees, Robert McGrady, and Soap Curtis. The cast includes Seth Campbell, Mel Fellows, Frankie Goodman, Olivia Kemp, Katelyn McLane, Anya Naylor, Antonia Perez, Dariana Pèrez, and Tia Tanzer.

Poster design by Kezia Florence Germ.
