Peter Pan is based on the classic Disney film and J.M. Barrie’s original play about a boy who wouldn’t grow up. The story revolves around Wendy Darling who loves to tell stories to her brothers, Michael and John. But when her father announces she must move out of the nursery, Peter Pan comes to visit the children and whisks them away to Neverland. Their journey introduces them to the Lost Boys, Mermaids, Indians and even the infamous pirate, Captain Hook.
Memorable songs from the production include, “You Can Fly,” “Yo Ho, A Pirate’s Life for Me,” “Never Smile at a Crocodile,” and “What makes the Brave Man Brave?”
The production is sponsored through the programing of Fridley Community Education. It has a cast of 39 students between the ages of 9 and 15. They have spent 3 ½ hours a day for three weeks to learn all of the dialogue, blocking and choreography for the performance.
