The Shadow Box
Applause Community Theatre is excited to present The Shadow Box by Michael Cristofer. Winner of the 1977 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony for Best Play the same year, it is as relevant today as it was then. In this compelling dramatic triptych that sparkles with warmth and humor, three terminal patients grapple with their deaths and legacies while attended and visited by family and close friends: Agnes and her mother Felicity, estranged further by the latter’s dementia; Brian and Beverly, whose marital complications are exacerbated by Brian’s new lover, Mark; and Joe and Maggie, unready for the strain of Joe’s impending death and its effect on their teenager.
