‘Silly old bear’: Winnie-the-Pooh opens at the Old Log Theatre
The Old Log Theatre presents Excelsior Entertainments production of a charming musical version of A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh.
Pooh’s time-tested wisdom is as relevant today as it was nearly a century ago, when the beloved teddy bear first appeared in print. Christopher Robin's fat little "bear of very little brain" who would like to drift peacefully through life, humming tunes and stopping frequently to eat "a little something", finds himself involved in all sorts of frantic adventures, assisted by such friends as the Eeyore, Piglet and Rabbit, with his countless relations.  Winnie-the-Pooh is a wonderful children’s play for kids of all ages.

Audience favorite Bradley Greenwald celebrates winter’s beauty, the holiday blues, and the soul’s need for rebirth in an eclectic program of words and music as kaleidoscopic as the season. A meditative and joyful performance sure to warm snow-covered hearts!

First presented in December 2013, Bradley Greenwald, along with pianist Sonja Thompson, create a meditative and joyful performance of music and poems embracing the longest and darkest night of the year.

Celebrating and embracing winter, the holidays and "hell-i-days," Seasonal Affective Disorder, friends, family, Christians, and Pagans, Greenwald brings light and levity as well as reflection and renewal to the season. Rodgers and Hart, Leonard Cohen, Purcell, J. S. Bach, Sting, Peter Mayer, Dar Williams, and more get their songs sung, with a little Margaret Atwood, Joseph Campbell, and Ogden Nash thrown in for good measure.

Celebrating the longest night of the year goes back to Stonehenge and Machu Picchu, Roman Saturnalia, and the Viking Yule. Its traditions defined when and how Christians celebrate Christmas. Bradley celebrates winter, the holiday blues, excess, and the soul's need for rebirth in an eclectic program of text and music.

Colin's new wife Tess – a city girl with zero tolerance for mosquitoes – comes along for the ride only to find the theater on the verge of bankruptcy. After losing the rights to It’s a Wonderful Life, they race to come up with another play. With piano tuner and Little House fanatic Neil Gunderson, and lizard-loving massage therapist Martha Knutson as the only cast members, hilarity ensues as this unlikely bunch scramble to save the theater. There’s true love and off-key Christmas carols, lutefisk and bearded dragons, and best of all, unexpected miracles happen.  A ridiculous and heart-warming holiday comedy guaranteed to tickle the funny bone of lutefisk-eating Minnesotans everywhere!  “A madcap holiday farce!” – Twin Cities Daily Planet

Tru Ruts presents Shá Cage's culturally-charged work Khephra: A Hip Hop Holiday Story for the 2nd year. The show looks at a young girl, Khephra and mother who move from Africa to the United States after the child’s dad passes away to start life in a very new community. In doing so they adjust to the culture, acclimate and ultimately the young woman claims and reclaims herself and her identity through hip hop and African music and dance.

It is about letting go, holding onto and reclaiming. This exciting 55 minute one-act is a choreo-poem integrating elements of drama, movement and puppetry written largely with poetry and verse. Last year’s premiere was over-sold and in high demand at Open Eye Figure Theatre. It left kids and adults alike belting Christmas songs in laughter and bliss.

With Cage seamlessly inhabiting different characters and manipulating objects, the show tells a story that is both personal and universal, exploring home, migration and immigration through multiple lenses.

“So many people requested that the show return as a Holiday tradition. We realized the great need for non-traditional plays around this time of year that allow families to ‘play’ and have a good time.” – Shá Cage

Khephra features Destiny Anderson (movement/performance) along with a stellar artistic team of collaborators including Truthmaze (percussion), Rico Mendez (sound), E.G. Bailey (director), Jamela Pettiford (vocalist) and more.

It’s December 23rd, 1978.
Albee Humphrey used to be household name, but these days his star is fading. He’s got one last shot at his big comeback – with a network televised Christmas special. There’s celebrity guests, variety acts, and there’s even rumor of a reunion with his former comedy partner – who he hasn't spoken to in 20 years. He’ll be using members of his studio audience as extras, so you may even find yourself getting in on the act!
This is his last chance to be a star again. He’ll either make it to the top…or die trying!

Mystery Cafe dishes out a hilarious comedy caper, where you and your table are invited to solve the crime…all while enjoying a delicious 3-course meal. Upon arrival, you’ll be seated by members of the cast. Clues are all around, and you’ll also be provided with “Mystery Money,” so you can bribe characters for more information.

The evidence points to one answer, and a prize is awarded to our “Super Sleuth” winner. We also give prizes for the most…shall we say…“creative” answer. Right or wrong, you’ll be laughing all the way to the solution. Whether or not crack the case, you’ll certainly bust a gut!

Wini Froelich, Dave Gangler, Michael Lee, Ann Lees and Dan Rooney. Written by Brian Kelly & Doug Neithercott. Directed by Brian Kelly

This Tony Award winning madcap screwball comedy, set in 1934, will keep you laughing all night long!

"Non-stop laughter."      "Uproarious! Hysterical!"       "A rib-tickling comedy.”

“The most inventive, original farce in a long time”

Saunders, the general manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company, is set to welcome world famous Tito Morelli, the greatest tenor of his era, to appear for one night only as Otello.  The star arrives late, and following a series of hilarious mishaps, is given a double dose of tranquilizers and passes out.  Thinking Tito has died, Saunders convinces his assistant Max to put on Morelli’s costume and fool the audience into believing they are seeing the star.  Max succeeds, but Morelli comes to and puts on his other costume ready to perform. Hilarity ensues!

Jessica Lind Peterson’s original holiday comedy is back and sillier than ever! Soap opera star Colin Avery returns to his Minnesota roots to take over Christmas Lake Community Theater after his father dies.

Cast: Ryan Nelson, Jessie Rae Rayle, Mary Fox, Jason Peterson, Ryan Lear, Miriam Monasch & Diana Jurand

Sister Act is a feel-good musical comedy (based on the hit film) filled with powerful gospel music and a moving story.  This sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, is reason to REJOICE!

When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won't be a found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.
