Middle school, ugh. It’s the worst. But Greg is determined NOT to be at the bottom of the popularity chart. He’ll leave that to his weird neighbor, Fregley. Or maybe Greg’s best friend, Rowley Jefferson. But it’s not going to be Greg… no way.
See Jeff Kinney’s popular character take center stage as Greg’s cartoon diary becomes a hilarious and heartfelt musical. Will Greg’s plans lead him to sacrifice his one true friend? Can anyone avoid the dreaded Cheese Touch? Grab a hall pass and don’t be late for an adventure familiar to anyone who actually survived middle school!

LITTLE WOMEN | June 3–26, 2022
Written by Kate Hamill | Directed by Elena Giannetti
Jo March isn't what you call your typical prim and proper Victorian lady. She's rebellious, opinionated, and certainly isn't afraid to speak her mind. As she and her sisters grow up in the middle of the Civil War, they strive to be brave, intelligent, and imaginative young women. But the world around them has other plans. While Jo aspires to become a great American novelist, her sisters—Beth, Meg, and Amy—also tend to their private dreams while juggling society's expectations of them. Based on Louisa May Alcott’s famous coming-of-age story, this new adaptation by Kate Hamill is filled with the heart, spunk, and beautiful imperfection that makes the March sisters and their story such a timeless classic.

Returning to the first live performance since the Before Times, Theatre Coup d’Etat presents the world premier of Pyrates - a new work written and directed by James Napoleon Stone - performing Thursday - Monday, June 16 - 27, 2022, all 7:30pm performances at historic Fire Station 24 in South Minneapolis. This will also be Theatre Coup d’Etat’s final show in the Twin Cities, and we intend to go out with a bang! (And cannons, sword fighting, perhaps even with the swash of a buckle or two.)
Pyrates is a dark comedy that will focus on a non-binary protagonist, Tanith, press-ganged aboard a military vessel. The crew have planned a mutiny to overthrow the vicious captain, and Tanith suddenly finds themselves swept up into the world of piracy. Along the way we witness the experiences of femme and masculine-presenting sailors, sailors of color, pirate legends, and individuals with different cultural backgrounds uniting together against the disproportionately wealthy rulers of society. Seeing their differences as strength, the crew embarks on “the big score” - the theft of a great treasure - the worth of which will allow them to leave piracy behind. This journey and its characters are based on real-life events and individuals.

In this sparkling screwball comedy, two actors are so down on their luck they’re stuck performing Shakespeare on the Moose Lodge circuit in Amish country. Upon learning that a local millionaire may not be long for this world, they hatch a plot: they’ll masquerade as her long-lost relatives, make off with the fortune, and solve all their problems with her cash. But things go topsy-turvy when the actors fall in love with a rollerskating waitress and a theatre-loving heiress. It’s a delightful romp full of hijinks, high heels, and heart that you won’t want to miss!

In a small New York City jury room, on "the hottest day of the year," twelve men debate the fate of a young defendant charged with murdering his father. In form, TWELVE ANGRY MEN: A NEW MUSICAL is a courtroom drama; in purpose, it's a crash course in those passages of the U.S. Constitution that promise defendants a fair trial and the presumption of innocence.
Theater Latté Da is thrilled to develop and produce the world premiere of this new American musical adapted from one of America’s greatest dramas.
We are grateful for the anonymous Production Sponsor who generously underwrote TWELVE ANGRY MEN: A NEW MUSICAL and for their ongoing support of Theater Latté Da.

When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. But he’s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, who is determined to exercise control over the town’s youth. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges pins a father longing for the son he lost against a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.
To the rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top Forty score, augmented with dynamic new songs, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people while guiding them with a warm heart and open mind.
Footloose first burst onto the silver screen in 1984 and proved to be one of the year’s most successful motion pictures. The soundtrack recording reached #1 on the Billboard charts, and went on to sell over 17 million copies worldwide, generating such Top Forty hits as its title song and “Let’s Hear It For The Boy” (both of which received Academy Award nominations), plus “Almost Paradise,” “Holding Out For A Hero,” and “I’m Free (Heaven Helps the Man).” With a screenplay and lyrics by Oscar winner Dean Pitchford, the story focused on young people, much like his previous, and wildly successful movie musical Fame.
