Bunce Performing Arts’ musical theater production of BRIGHT STAR, directed by Sharayah (Bunce) Russell, will perform February 24, 25, March 4 & 5 (7:30 pm), and Sundays, Feb 26 & March 5 (2pm) on the auditorium stage of Maple Grove Middle School, at 7000 Hemlock Lane N, Maple Grove. This is a community theater event for all ages (due to mature themes, it might be more relevant and appropriate to pre-teens and older). Inspired by the radical inclusiveness of the Fluxus art movement of the second half of the 20th century, the Fluxus Performance in Rarig will be offered in the form of a shared meal. 

The Fluxus Performance lasts approximately one hour, during which audiences are invited to sit at a large table with others and share a meal offered to you by the student artists who have crafted the food and the experience. The meal is both literal (real food!) and figurative (feeding our minds with fun, games, songs, gifts, beauty, and small performance events threading throughout the meal)

There will be an audience option to sit apart from the table and observe the performance from a distance.  All non-food aspects of the performance will be available to you whether you are joining in the food sharing or not. 

*The food being served includes fruits, salad, cheeses, bread and vegetable soup. It is all prepared in a home kitchen by the student and faculty artists and has not been subject to official inspection. All food offered is vegetarian. All ingredients for all food options will be prominently listed. 

This performance is free of charge and registration required.

Fluxus by Lisa Channer emphasizes the creative process rather than performance in the arts. The students will write and curate the works and perform on February 24-26, 2023 in the Nolte Xperimental Theater.

The 2012 revised version of Godspell is a masterful retelling of the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden); and it took the world by storm.  Led by the international hit, “Day by Day,” Godspell features a parade of beloved songs, including “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “All for the Best,” “All Good Gifts,” “Turn Back, O Man” and “By My Side.”

A small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and a hefty dose of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus’ life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus’ messages of community, connection, kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life.
