Hours:                   Tuesday – Sunday, primarily nights and weekends, variable, typically 15-20 hrs/wk

Hourly wage:        $18.00

SUMMARY:

The Front of House Associate (FOH Associate) is a part-time position providing excellent customer service to all Luminary Arts Center patrons by creating a welcoming environment, serving concessions, handling money (as cash, credit cards, but no checks), supervising patrons within the theater and assisting with parking lot facilitation on a rotating basis. FOH Associates will possess excellent customer service ability, and knowledge of current Luminary Arts Center performances and concessions offerings, and the ability to adapt and stay levelheaded during intermission and in case of any emergencies.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides exceptional, concierge-style customer service for patrons at the Luminary, at performances, and at other events.
  • Provides clear and accurate information to patrons regarding policies, parking, current performances, and concessions offerings.
  • Serves as an MN Opera ambassador by facilitating and filling orders.
  • Ensures that all state and federal laws are followed when serving and/or handling alcohol and food.
  • Ensures patron safety through active participation in and knowledge of Luminary Arts Center safety and security procedures.
  • Assists with Parking lot signage, receiving payments and checking for appropriate vehicles as needed – on a rotational basis.
  • Makes recommendations to help build patron affinity.
  • Fields customer service issues, records feedback, and communicates pertinent information to managers.
  • Assists with maintenance of the Luminary Arts Center.
  • Contributes to team projects by completing related tasks as needed.

 

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • This position will be required to work frequent evenings and weekends and have flexibility in scheduling.
  • Must be over 21 years of age
  • Must be able to move throughout the LAC comfortably and frequently – this role is not able to work at a desk
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs
  • Must be able to regularly position self to pick up objects from floor, retrieve items from lower shelf and bring to counter height and similar movements.
  • Must have reliable transportation to the LAC
  • This position is required to be in-person at the LAC on a regular basis.
  • Must have CPR/AED Certification. MN Opera will provide training for those who do not already possess this certification.
  • Must be certified to sell and handle alcohol. MN Opera will provide training for those who do not already possess this certification.

  • Knowledge of handling orders through Square (preferred).
  • Front of house, service, hospitality, or retail experience (preferred).
  • Strong communication, quantitative, and organization skills.
  • Ability to stay calm in high pressure or emergency situations
