We are looking for a Career Pathways Facilitator to join our growing team at Project Success. Project Success is a youth development nonprofit organization that helps students connect to their purpose. We work with more than 15,000 6th-12th grade students and their families annually and have more than 225,000 alumni around the world. Career Pathways is the structured college and career readiness program of the Best Buy Teen Tech Center and provides students with the opportunity to develop key technical, professional, and life skills as well as deepen their knowledge of career opportunities in the STEAM field. The Career Pathways Facilitator is responsible for managing the Best Buy Teen Tech Center Career Pathways Program. They will collaborate with individuals across the organization and partner companies to ensure programming meets organizational and partner goals. The Career Pathways Facilitator will engage directly with Career Pathways program participants through recruitment, program activities and events, and through providing personalized support to ensure participant excellence in the program. They will also have administrative duties including data management, maintaining participant records, program reporting, and stipend distributions. 

This role reports to the Senior Curriculum Manager and is part of the Institute team at Project Success. 

This role will require strong communication and organizational skills, excitement to engage with students, families, and staff, and the ability to deliver engaging programming that inspires young people. Our ideal candidate is passionate about providing support and resources for young people to deepen their knowledge of the STEAM field and is committed to removing barriers that could prevent student and family participation in the programs.  

Core Job Responsibilities 

Program Development and Management  

  • Create and facilitate life skills workshops to equip Career Pathways Program participants with relevant transferable social, professional, and college preparatory skills   

  • Partner with assigned Tech Skills Partner liaison to outline the yearly programming calendar schedule  

  • Partner with assigned Tech Skills Partner liaison to incorporate industry-specific soft skills training workshops into programming curriculum  

  • Host regular 1:1 check-in and coaching sessions with Career Pathways program participants  

  • Support program participants with job/internship applications, scholarship applications, career exploration, etc.  

  • Secure paid summer youth internship placements for program participants  

  • Continuously adapt to student needs to steward an inclusive and equitable environment at the Best Buy Teen Tech Center as well as within the Career Pathways program  

Program Partnerships & Outreach  

  • Recruit local youth to the Teen Tech Center as members and participants in the Career Pathways program  

  • Match local professionals with Career Pathways program participants as volunteer mentors  

  • Actively participate in recurring check-in meetings with Best Buy Social Impact staff and/or Tech Skills Partner liaison   

  • Actively participate in recurring host organization team meetings, 1:1 meetings with supervisor, Teen Tech Center staff meetings   

  • Attend annual training events/conferences hosted by Best Buy and or The Clubhouse Networks  

Administrative Operations   

  • Oversee implementation of youth participation stipends  

  • Complete administrative data management including maintaining accurate and up-to-date Career Pathways attendance/participation records  

  • Submit program reporting as requested by parent and/or partner organization  

  • Manage youth and parental consent forms and other paperwork as applicable

Education, Experience, and Skills

Please note that while the below qualifications are preferred for this position, we do not expect any one person to necessarily have all the items listed. We highly encourage people with a wide range of education, experience, and skill levels to apply for this position.  

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of similar experience (or a combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities)  

  • 2+ years' experience working directly with students in education, youth development, or technical programs  

  • 2+ years' experience in lesson planning and/or curriculum development 

  • 2+ years' experience in program and/or project management  

  • Experience working in an informal learning environment  

  • Ability to work a variety of shifts as needed, including weekday evenings and weekends  

  • Strong and detail-oriented communication, listening, problem-solving, and organizational skills  

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a proven ability to deal with ambiguity and change    

  • Tech-savvy and proficient with O365 - PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook  

  • Self-motivated, extremely reliable, ability to work with clear instruction  

  • A passion for learning and helping others to learn   

Job Requirements 

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance  

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, including movement up and down stairs and throughout office environment and at events  

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds consistently, and up to 50 pounds on occasion  

  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or be granted an accommodation prior to beginning employment 

Position Details

This position is a full-time, salaried exempt position, with an in-person schedule including evening hours and weekends. This position may have limited remote work flexibility due to the nature of the job responsibilities.  

The compensation package includes the following:  

  • $48,000 - $55,000 annual salary  

  • Generous paid time off
