Costume Designer/Costumer Position 

We are looking for a Costume Designer and Costumer to head up our Middle School theater season. This year we will have productions on November 15 -17 (Elf Jr.) and March 7 - 9 (The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe). The desire is this position would also work on the High School end of year musical May 1 - 4 (Newsies). The position would largely take place in the afternoon/evening, and may include working with Middle School Costuming Students (who are a JOY and eager to learn and be involved!). The pay rate for this position is hourly and the range of the hourly rate is dependent on experience and discussion. If a stipend is preferred, feel free to disclose. The Middle School theater program is vibrant, enthusiastic, and growing all the time. You cannot find more wonderful students to work with!  

Additional Costumers and Assistant Costumers: 

We are seeking additional costumers/costume assistants to aid in our upcoming season. You will be working in tandem with the costume designers and production team to bring amazing shows to life! We would love someone able to work on multiple productions in a season, but are also excited for additional costumers for individual productions. The productions for the seasons are as follows and roles can be stipended or hourly depending on discussion, experience, and preference:

High School Season:

- Our Town, November 1 - 3 2024

- Competition One Act, first round January 25th, 2025 

- Newsies, May 1 - 4 

 

Middle School 

- Elf Jr., November 15 - 17 

- The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, March 7 - 9 

 

APPLICATION PROCESS 

Submit a resume, cover letter, and portfolio of relevant work via email ([email protected]). Pay is hourly and based on experience. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

PLEASE NOTE: 

This is a position at an educational theater program. You will be working with students 18 years old and younger and will need to undergo a background check prior to beginning the position. 

 

 

**Ideal Qualifications:**

- Bachelor’s degree in Costume Design, Fashion Design, Theatre Arts, or related field.
- Experience in costume design and construction for theatre or similar productions.
- Strong sewing, tailoring, and garment alteration skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration with diverse teams.
- Experience with students or in an educational setting is a plus.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
