Hiring Performance Artists

Respond by:
Members of the Sassy Lassy Events troupe

*** Are you joyful, supportive, fun, and funny? Are you comfortable holding an entire room of people? We are looking for a few more hosts to join our troupe.***

We create the content. You engage the room in your own unique way.

We host live games, game shows, and other interactive entertainment for groups of 20 to 2000+ people. We are based in Minneapolis/St. Paul, but also travel throughout the Midwest (and beyond) for corporate events, fundraisers, and a few weddings here and there. Our clients include US Bank, Delta, General Mills, Allina, Target, Trader Joe’s, Mayo Clinic, and more.

Our troupe is predominantly women at present, but all genders are encouraged to apply. BIPOC performers and the multilingual are especially encouraged to apply, as well as anyone with significant teaching experience. (Teaching experience does not need to have been in the performing arts; we love math teachers / science teachers / English teachers, and so on! You're fantastic improv artists.) All ages (18+). We are also looking to add a few more corporate-friendly drag queens.

We look at performers with a lot of stage (or on-mic) experience **and** also those with less experience, but who have the right personality and self awareness. Our greatest need is for lead hosts, performers who have the ability to hold the room on their own.

Please note: You will be successful on our troupe if you can do all of the following:

  • Be on time – you will need your own reliable vehicle for this gig
  • Learn our games – you will need to practice/prepare before you take the stage
  • Be in costume – guidelines and assistance provided from owner & senior hosts
  • Bring a level of presence to the stage
  • Take supportive, yet direct feedback on your performances
  • Communicate early and often, in whatever way feels best to you
  • Work with diverse audiences and want to foster a sense of inclusivity and celebration

Application requirements: Please submit a CV or resume that includes your specific experience as an emcee (MC), entertainer, performance artist, event host, leader of groups, teacher, improv artist, auctioneer, or your other experience on stage or at a microphone. We’d also like to see a brief (30-90 second) video of you, where you introduce yourself & tell us about what appeals to you about hosting live games & game shows. This can be super casual but it must be included in order for your application to be considered. Don't worry about getting stage-ready; we'd just like to get a sense of your joyful vibe. (You can send a Dropbox link or YouTube link or an attachment if it's not too large.)

If you have any technical difficultly making an intro video, please let us know. We don’t want technology to get in the way of your application.

****Please be sure to include your phone number, and available windows to interview the weeks beginning September 30 and October 7 in South Mpls.****

(Please note that incomplete applications will not be considered. Please take the time to read the application requirements. If you already submitted your application and realize later it was incomplete, it’s cool if you want to resubmit.)

The top candidates will be invited to audition in mid- to late October. Gigs start in late October.

All bookings are paid, and 100% of tips go directly to hosts. Gig rates depend on duration of engagement and your role, but expect $250 to $450+ per 1-2 hour gig, plus any tips. Experienced lead hosts can make $500+.

Hosts do not set up / tear down / or do any schlepping of any kind. We believe that is a different mind frame – and a different outfit.

Thank you for your interest in joining the Sassy Lassy Events Troupe. Reach out if you have Qs.
