Performing Wednesday - Sundays
Rehearsals Tuesday-Sunday (afternoon and evenings)
Rate: $690/wk (rehearsals), $790/wk (performances) - will be provided an AEA Contract. Current AEA status is not required.

Job Overview:
Yellow Tree Theatre is seeking a highly organized and experienced Stage Manager for our upcoming production of Steel Magnolias. The Stage Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of rehearsals, performances, and technical elements, ensuring a smooth and professional production process. This position requires close collaboration with the director, cast, crew, and theatre staff to maintain the artistic integrity of the show while adhering to AEA guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rehearsal Management:
    • Coordinate and oversee all rehearsals, including preparing the space, running the rehearsal room, and ensuring actors, crew, and creative team members are informed of schedules and any changes.
    • Manage and delegate an assistant stage manager.
    • Track blocking, line notes, and technical cues.
    • Maintain the production script with all cues and blocking.
    • Act as the primary point of communication between the director, cast, and production team.
  • Performance Management:
    • Call all performances, ensuring proper execution of all light, sound, and scenic cues.
    • Oversee all backstage operations and coordinate with the technical crew to ensure smooth performance runs.
    • Manage the safety and well-being of the cast and crew during the production.
    • Maintain the artistic vision of the director throughout the run of the production.
    • Oversee the prompt start and efficient execution of all shows.
  • AEA Compliance:
    • Ensure that all AEA rules and regulations are adhered to throughout rehearsals and performances, including breaks, hours, and working conditions.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Act as the liaison between the director, designers, and the cast.
    • Facilitate communication between the creative team, technical crew, and theater staff.
    • Provide daily rehearsal and performance reports to production staff.
    • Coordinate costume fittings, photo calls, and other production-related events with the appropriate departments.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience stage managing in a professional theater setting.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of personalities, including directors, actors, designers, and crew.
  • Experience with scheduling, note-taking, and maintaining production paperwork.
  • Calm and clear under pressure with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Availability for the full rehearsal and performance schedule from October 22nd– December 29th, 2024. If you have conflicts, please list them as there can work-around-solutions.

Rehearsal & Performance Schedule:

  • Rehearsals will take place from mid-October 2024 through mid-November 2024.
  • Performances are scheduled from mid-November through December 29th, 2024.
  • Afternoons, evenings, and weekends will be required. A full schedule will be provided upon hire.
