Position Description: Children’s Performing Arts is seeking an aspiring arts professional to serve as a teaching assistant for their upcoming summer camps. Interns will collaborate with professional teaching artists and staff to plan and implement 14 theatre classes, including production camps and creative dramatics classes. Skills/Qualifications:
- High school graduates who are at least 19 years old
- Background in theatre, musical theatre, music or theatre education, creative writing, or related field
- Interest in working with students ages 5-17 years old
- Strong sense of collaboration and excellent communication skills
- Commitment to fostering both artistic expression and leadership skills in students
- Ability to think on your feet and work independently as necessary
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with professional teaching staff to create weekly lesson plans
- Assist teaching staff with classroom management, instruction, and coaching
- Manage students in before/after care and lunch breaks for camps when necessary
Benefits:
- Interns will work an average of 35 hours per week between June 9th and August 15th (with unpaid time off the week of the Fourth of July). Paid training will be provided between June 4th and June 6th.
- Interns will be paid $16-$17 an hour, paid biweekly
- Housing is not provided
