Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic individual to fill the role of Community Theatre Director for the 2025 Summer Theatre Production of West Side Story. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in directing theatrical productions, a deep understanding of community engagement, and a creative vision for bringing diverse and compelling performances to our audiences.
Salary
$2500 Stipend
Responsibilities:
1. **Artistic Vision and Direction:**
- Develop and communicate a clear artistic vision for the community theatre.
- Select and propose compelling theatrical productions that align with the community's interests and diversity.
2. **Production Planning and Execution:**
- Oversee all aspects of the production process, from auditions to final performances.
- Collaborate with production teams, including the IGHCT Board members, designers, choreographers, and technical staff.
- Ensure that rehearsals run smoothly and effectively.
4. **Budget Management:**
- Work within budgetary constraints to plan and execute productions.
- Source and allocate resources efficiently, ensuring financial sustainability.
5. **Team Leadership:**
- Provide leadership and guidance to the cast and crew.
- Cultivate a positive and collaborative working environment.
6. **Promotion and Marketing:**
- Contribute to the development of marketing strategies to promote productions.
- Engage with local media, sponsors, and partners to enhance the theatre's visibility.
Requirements:
1. **Experience:**
- Proven experience in directing theatrical productions, preferably in a community setting.
- Familiarity with various genres and styles of theatre.
2. **Communication Skills:**
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively convey artistic concepts to a diverse group of participants.
3. **Team Player:**
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse teams, including actors, crew, and community members.
