Before celebrated musical theater composer Jason Robert Brown wrote The Last Five Years and The Bridges of Madison County, he wrote Songs for a New World. The sung-through show is written as a “song cycle,” with the four actors playing multiple roles throughout the musical. But the songs are all connected by a “moment of decision” as each character is faced with a potentially life-changing event and the consequences, good or bad, that follow.
