Controlled Burn - Queer Performance for a World on Fire
2605 Hennepin Ave
Minneapolis, MN 55408
United States
Named for the practice of burning a prairie to promote new growth, Controlled Burn is a space for queer rage, revolution, and reclamation, aimed at regeneration. An intersectional space for queer performers, Controlled Burn is a cabaret-type festival curated by the fiercely talented Taja Will, Maia Jean and Dua Saleh. This special three-night event features a unique lineup each evening.
Controlled Burn was originally created in 2016 by Patrick’s Cabaret, a queer-led performance art incubator founded in Minneapolis in 1986. When Patrick’s Cabaret completed its sunset in 2018, the organization entrusted the program’s continuation to 20% Theatre Company.
