Biography
After graduating from Southeast Missouri State University with a BFA in Theatrical Design & Technology and a BA in German, Mary crisscrossed the country working as an AEA stage manager, costume designer, and costume technician on tours as well as regional and summer stock theatres. As a costume technician she has had the pleasure of working with The Moscow Ballet, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, St. Louis Shakespeare Festival, and Stages St. Louis. Currently, Mary is pursuing her MFA in Costume Design & Technology at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Recent work includes designs for The Threepenny Opera at UMN, and In the Age of Paint and Bone with Nimbus Theatre. She also most recently assisted with the costume design of Capriccio with The Santa Fe Opera, and Daughter of the Regiment with Mill City Summer Opera. Favorite designs include The Peoples’ Circus an original dance choreographed by Wynn Fricke for UMN, A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company (for which she was awarded Best Costume Design 2013 by Broadway World Cincinnati), Lend Me a Tenor and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with Ozark Actor’s Theatre. A St. Louis native, she now calls Minneapolis home with her partner Alan, and their two Corgis, Gobo and Comet.
