Sonder Productions is a female-centered theatre company whose mission is to spotlight new voices in the Twin Cities.

SHOW SUMMARY 

When freshman acting major Hailey unexpectedly scores the coveted role of Lady Macbeth, her upperclassmen rivals immediately invite her over to “celebrate.” As the Fireball and Svedka flow, the young women interrogate their own ambitions as well as the power structures that have shaped their education—and when the night spirals into violent and shocking acts of betrayal, they come to learn that what’s done cannot be undone.

Please prepare a memorized one-minute monologue in the style of the show (dark dramedy) and select one-two of the short sides from THIS DRIVE (no need to memorize!). Printed sides will also be provided at auditions.

Please upload as unlisted to a video platform (YouTube, Vimeo, Etc) and submit the link in the audition form. If you are in a time crunch and don’t have time to record the additional sides, feel free to submit whatever acting reels you have available.

AUDITION, REHEARSAL, AND PERFORMANCE LOCATION

Dow Arts Building 2242 Studio #325, University Ave W, Saint Paul, MN  55114 

Please arrive 15 minutes early 

The entrance is in the back of the Dow Arts Building (DOOR #4). Enter the back door and go up the stairs. Follow the signs!

COMPENSATION

Actors will receive a stipend of $100-$200.

We are excited to offer Ticket Milestone Bonuses! This means as the show succeeds, actors and production will financially share that success. Once we reach a certain amount of ticket sales, actors will receive a 50%-100% increase in compensation. Details will be in contracts.

SEEKING

All characters are female, ages 18-22. We are very open to casting people who are outside of the traditional college age range.

Please note that some actors may be asked to use personal clothes for costumes.

BIPOC and members of the LGBTQIA+ community are especially encouraged to audition.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

HAILEY HUDSON (FEMALE) (Lady Macbeth) is a freshman BFA acting major from Kokomo, IN. She is thrilled to be making her mainstage debut at UMNC. “Shoutout to Mr. Hansen and the KHS Drama Squad!”

Sweet, naive, unaware, the youngest, a little annoying. Please note this character will be involved in stage combat (no experience required) 

RACHEL LABEAU (FEMALE) (First Witch) is a senior BFA acting major from Mora, MN. She has previously been seen on UMNC’s mainstage as Hedda Tesman in Hedda Gabler, Janet Van de Graaff in The Drowsy Chaperone, Olivia in Twelfth Night, Abigail Williams in The Crucible, and others. 

Tenacious, desperate, harsh, role model. Please note this character will be involved in stage combat (no experience required) and interact with stage blood

ALEXIS (LEXI) LAPP (FEMALE) (Lady Macduff) is a senior BFA acting major from Minneapolis, MN. She has previously been seen on UMNC’s mainstage as Kitty in The Drowsy Chaperone, Maria in Twelfth Night, Mary Warren in The Crucible, and others. “This one’s for you, Mom.”   

Crude, attentive, healing. Please note this character will be involved in stage combat (no experience required) and interact with stage blood

PIPER BELL (FEMALE) (Messenger #1) is a sophomore BFA acting major from Eagle Bend, MN. She has previously been seen on UMNC’s mainstage as Berta in Hedda Gabler. “Psalm 33:3.” 

Kind, considerate, sheltered, religious

CAM WITKOWSKI (FEMALE) (Gentlewoman) is a junior BFA acting major and philosophy minor from Marquette, MI. She has previously been seen on UMNC’s mainstage as a Wedding Guest in The Drowsy Chaperone, Theban Elder/Chorus in Antigone, and an Attendant in Twelfth Night. “All my love to Mom, Dad, Abbie, and Lou (but none to Brian).”   

Witty, smart, hopeful. We are seeking members of the LGBTQ+ community for this character

CONTENT TRANSPARENCY 

MACBITCHES covers themes of bullying, binge drinking, sexual manipulation, and toxic power structures. Please note there is crude language, stage violence, stage blood, and usage of the word Macbeth in this production.
