Director’s Note

Four slaphappy, good-hearted lumberjacks live in a state of manly bliss at the Haywire Lumber Camp in Northern Wisconsin – until an encounter with a plucky mail order bride interrupts life as they know it. The result is big belly laughs, beautiful music, and moon-eyed dancing lumberjacks.

We are looking for six actors who sing like angels, but act like clowns.  For auditions, please prepare a one-minute comic monologue and 16-32 bars of a musical theatre or folk song.  Piano accompaniment will be provided, but if you play an instrument you are encouraged to do so during your singing audition.  We plan for at least of few of the cast to play acoustic instruments like guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, fiddle, accordion, etc.

Lyric Arts’ Commitment to Diversity and Inclusive Casting

Lyric Arts is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. We are actively seeking a diverse cast of actors for LUMBERJACKS IN LOVE. All auditions shall be conducted in a manner that promotes fair consideration to persons of all races, ethnicities, national origins, genders, gender identities, sexual orientations, ages, ability statuses, and body types.
