Ticketing: The Onboarding Process

One less step

There are a lot of choices out there when it comes to ticketing. You have national, regional, and even local options and each has pros and cons. If you are listing your show on Playlist than all of these options have one thing in common - you have to add all your show information into a second piece of software. For many, that might not be a deal breaker as that other software may offer some really great features and perks.

One of the main reasons I wanted to add ticketing to Playlist was for those companies and individuals who don't want to have to manage another software. Ticketing on Playlist provides a streamlined way of listing your show once, adding tickets, and selling tickets in one spot.

A Platform

The philosophical side of adding ticketing rests in the idea of Minnesota Playlist as a platform, designed to lift up as many organizations and individuals as possible. One of the advantages a platform holds is the ability to amplify a message. We see this every year with organizations like the Fringe Festival, Art Shanties, or The Current. These platforms serve the collective via the mass they can reach. This is my vision for Minnesota Playlist, and ticketing is one step in that process. It allows this platform to become a magnet for audiences through broad marketing and promotion.

Onboarding

Regardless of which ticketing system you use, there is a setup process. Since Playlist's rebuild back in 2023 we've used Stripe to process transactions. With their service we are able to tap into Stripe Connect - a way for companies and individuals to verify their identity in an onboarding process and piggyback on Playlist's account for ticket sales.

The onboarding process is a one time event and is tied to your Minnesota Playlist account. It takes about fifteen minutes to complete. It does require that you have some business info (if you are a non-profit or for profit) as well as some personal info, and then finally your banking information. Once complete you can sell tickets and receive your funds for those sales within 24 hours.

Take a watch of the demo video below to see the whole process front to back.
