Twin Cities Improv Fest: Day 2!

Editorial
molly_tile2.jpg Day Two (of Four) of the Twin Cities Improv Fest is getting started right now, and will keep going past 1:00 a.m. If you haven’t experienced the Twin Cities Improv Fest, the caliber of talent packed into four days is astounding, and it's a wonderful introduction to this art form Before I go on, in full disclosure: I love improv, I perform improv, and I work at an improv theater. But it’s because I love great theater, not just great improvised theater. Okay, now for some news of interest: Updated 8:15 p.m. Pound for Pound (Paula Pazderka and Harrison Brookie) matched their billing as perfectly balanced in every sense of the word. Their set was both energetic and graceful, tackling the nuances of relationships with equal comfort as transforming a Mazda Miata into a pirate ship. Yes, that happened. *** Matt Nass of Detroit performed a solo improvised music show after a harrowing day of travel from Detroit. To give you an idea, only one of his troubles was the airline losing his bass guitar, mixers, pedals and other equipment. Minnesotans to the rescue. The call went out and a loaner bass was found within an hour. Matt made due with an iPad and brought the house down with his show. Tonight’s 8:30 p.m. show Messing with Gausas sold out, but there are still tickets to an impressive line-up that includes top local and visiting performers, from Pound For Pound at 7:00 p.m. to Five Man Job at 10:00 p.m. and Adventures of Tim, Troy & Damian at 12:30. TCIF is at HUGE Improv Theater and runs through Sunday, June 24. The full line-up for tonight is: 7 pm – Stevie Ray’s / pH / Pound For Pound 8:30 pm – Feel Good Orchestra / Messing with Gausas [SOLD OUT] 10 pm – Five Man Job / TRIKE / Wrecking Crew 11:30 pm – Bearded Men / Elevator Action 12:30 pm – Adventures of Tim, Troy & Damian / Pizza Party More info at: http://twincitiesimprovfestival.wordpress.com/
