Bucket Brigade is seeking a 20-40 year old Ojibwe female actor/singer for their fall premiere of a new play-with-music, Survivors of the Fire: stories and songs remembering the Great Hinckley Fire of 1894.

It will be a theatrical show featuring four musicians and an ensemble of storytellers that will portray multiple characters through narrative, dialogue and song. While this piece retells some of the Great Hinckley Fire narratives that are traditionally in the foreground, we also seek to honor and highlight some of the narratives that are usually under-emphasized— particularly of a young Ojibwe heroine named Makadewigwan and the courageous actions of John Wesley Blair, a Black Porter who helped saved the lives of three-hundred passengers aboard the Limited Train No. 4.

Rehearsals are August 19-23rd in Saint Paul, for site-specific performances in Hinckley, MN, August 30th-September 1st on the 130th Anniversary of the fire. (Lodging will be provided.)

Rehearsals commence in Saint Paul, September 3rd-19th, for a 12 performance run at our Saint Paul venue, Art House North, September 27th-October 12th.

Performance stipends are $250 for the weekend of site-specific performances in Hinckley, and $1,500 for the 12 performances in Saint Paul.
