Fall 2024

CCP's annual concert series returns this October with a fun filled theme we are calling "Come On, Get Happy"! This original concept will include Broadway and movie musical favorites from every era that celebrate optimism, hope, and good times. Our cast will have the opportunity to influence the final concert song selections based on the creativity you put into selecting an audition piece that conveys our theme. A list of songs currently under consideration can be found on our website to give you some ideas. Participating in our fall concert series is a perfect opportunity for performers looking to experience community without the time commitment of a full show.

Artistic staff:

We are excited to welcome back David Kozisek as artistic director and Walter Tambor accompanying on piano. David and Walter are both on the faculty at MacPhail Center for Music and have collaborated in creating wonderful concerts in the past.

Audition details:

Preparing for auditions:

  • We are looking to cast 25-30 singers aged 15 and up
  • This will be a music intensive experience offering opportunities for solos, duets, small groups, and large chorus. All cast members will be in the full chorus numbers.
  • Prepare 32 measures of a song (no more than 2 minutes) of your choice that fits our theme of “Come On, Get Happy”
  • Be aware that you may be asked to sing a selection chosen by the director at auditions
  • An accompanist will be provided. Please bring a copy of your music clearly marking your start and end point for the pianist, printed double-sided and in a 3-ring binder. Please do not staple your music.
  • You will be asked to complete an actor agreement. Please bring a performance resume if you have one. If under age 18, a parent signature is required on the Actor Agreement.
  • Bring a listing of all your potential rehearsal conflicts in September and October 2024.
  • Bring a headshot. A simple selfie is all that is needed.
  • In-person auditions are strongly preferred

Special emcee role: We are also looking for an engaging emcee to provide connections between the music and the story behind these songs as well as facilitate our fundraising message. If you are interested, please contact us directly at [email protected]

Rehearsals:

  • First rehearsal will be after Labor Day
  • Rehearsals will generally be evenings and could vary based on availability of staff and cast
  • We are planning to host approximately 12-14 rehearsals in September and October at locations ranging from St. Paul to Maple Grove
  • All cast members will be asked to contribute a $30 activity fee

Performances:

  • We will perform the concert 3 times at 3 different venues around the Twin Cities
  • Please plan on being available:
    - Friday, 10/25 for an evening performance
    - Saturday, 10/26 for afternoon to evening performance
    - Sunday, 10/27 for an afternoon to evening performance
