Melancholics Anonymous, a small independent theater company, is auditioning non-union actors for:
Bart and Arnie by Adam Szymkowicz
Directed by Claire Chenoweth, Asst. Directed by Samantha Miller
Two pals making their way in the city. Existential dread and friendship. Puppets. Modern Dance. Whimsy. The financial difficulties of living in the big city and the highs and lows of art and commerce. It's hard to want things.
A Sesame Street-inspired look at the absurdity and not infrequent pain of living in the world. And some of the fun you can have. Maybe with your best friend.
CASTING (Characters are in their 20s or 30s)
BART: wears vertical stripes, not JUST a wet blanket, Arnie’s best friend
ARNIE: wears horizontal stripes, not JUST a manic-pixie-dream-person, Bart’s best friend
- We will be casting 2-4 actors across these 2 roles.
- Characters can be played by actors of any gender identity. Both characters are referred to with he/him pronouns.
- Both characters are onstage for almost the entire play.
- Experience with/excitement for devising and clowning is a plus.
- There will be a few moments of dancing/choreographed movement and some music (both instrumental and sung)
- Expertise not required!

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE & PERFORMANCE DATES
Rehearsals will start during the second week of February and be held 3 to 4 days a week for 3 hours per rehearsal until tech week starting 5/5. Rehearsals will occur at SpringHouse Ministry Center until we move to The Hive Collaborative on 5/5.
Performances will occur from 5/9-5/11 and 5/15-5/18 at The Hive Collaborative, 677 Hamline Ave N, St Paul, MN.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Callbacks will be held on 2/2 from 5:00-7:30 at The Phoenix Theater. An email regarding callbacks will be sent the evening of 2/1. If you are unavailable for callbacks, you may be given part of a side to read at your audition.
A stipend of $100 will be provided at the conclusion of the show’s run. There may be a modest increase depending on ticket sales.
